AN ECOSYSTEM FOR CLOUD CONNECTED GOODS
eGRAB is a smart inventory platform that uses RFID technology to digitise everyday consumer goods, making their journey from the supply chain to the retail shelf traceable at every step.
Often described as digital barcodes, RFID microchips are typically embedded within the product price label and inject huge efficiencies into supply chains by optimising cost or labour intensive tasks such as stock counting, logistics, planogram management and even product merchandising.
What is RFID?
RFID is an acronym for radio-frequency identification and refers to microchip technology where digital data encoded onto RFID tags or “smart labels” is wirelessly captured via radio waves. The technology is fundamental to the explosive growth of the Internet of Things.
Unlike barcodes, RFID labels can be read from close range or up to several metres away, and do not need to be within line-of-sight ofthe scanner to be seen.
Who is RFID For?
EFFICIENCY AND DATA GAINS FOR ALL
In addition to the vast time saving benefits RFID technology brings, eGRAB enabled products are also able to articulate their on shelf activity by communicating to RFID antennas within the fixtures and fittings of a store. This means that consumer engagement levels and real time product behaviour insights are measurable in a similar fashion eCommerce sites, helping to achieve a true omni-channel implementation.
By turning the shop floor into a valuable data mine, businesses can ensure both product and consumer browsing trends are identified as they are unfolding, thus enabling them to recruit the hyper agile responsiveness needed to remain competitive.
Whether your function is in buying, marketing, supply chain, HR, finance or operations eGRAB will support better decisions in your day to day tasks, optimising work flows and reducing the cost of managing inventory across the board.

The Labour Problem
REDUCING ERROR, INCREASING SPEED
Inventory management and stock counting takes time. Supply chain management for most enterprises still involves a high amount of labour and data input that brings with it, resultant human error. Using RFID technology to inject speed, efficiency and increased accuracy into labour intensive tasks frees up human capital for other areas of the business, reducing the number of staff required to conduct these tasks, but also dramatically reducing error rates.
RFID In Numbers
According to the RFID Research Center, which performed time and motion studies on inventory counting, it takes a single person approximately 1 hour to scan 650 items using a bar-code scanner. With a handheld RFID reader, that same individual could count 18,000 items making RFID over 27 times faster on average than barcode.
To highlight the time comparison, in a store containing 90,000 items (the approximated items in a mid format retail location), it would take a person with a barcode scanner nearly 140 hours to conduct an inventory count, versus about 5 hours to complete an inventory count via an RFID reader.
Prior to COVID-19 understanding in real time where your inventory was, both on the shop floor and the stockroom was desirable; it is now a prerequisite. Real time stock visibility, electronic detection of handled inventory and subsequent time dependent quarantining periods are now essential for responsible COVID compliant inventory management.
eGRAB is a tried and tested system currently delivering RFID services to some of the world’s top brands. The new COVID-19 module facilitates the implementation of inventory quarantining processes that enable retailers to track quarantined items with built-in alert systems notifying them how much time is left before they can be restocked.
eGRAB Inventory is a powerful and scalable software tool for managing your complete supply chain with RFID technology. The platform can be integrated with existing business software systems or be used as a standalone product. No matter where you choose to implement your RFID tagging in the supply chain, eGRAB can help you achieve better real time inventory visibility saving you both time and money.
